Junior Achievement’s elementary school programs include grade-specific lesson themes for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. Elementary school programs teach students the basic concepts of business and economics and how education is relevant to the workplace. Volunteers go into the classroom once a week for 5 weeks to lead the Junior Achievement program.
International Night is a yearly program put on by the KDE PTA, and is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diversity within our school, and to learn about some of the history and cultural traditions of different backgrounds. Numerous booths display crafts, flags, currency, stamps, foods, clothing, maps and photos from their country. There are also live stage performances put on by the students in the school, showcasing their country’s beautiful heritage.
WATCH D.O.G.S. is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations in the country. Since the program’s creation in 1998, more than 6,450 schools across the country have launched a WATCH D.O.G.S. program of their own. Each school year hundreds of thousands of fathers and father-figures make a positive impact on millions of children by volunteering millions of hours in their local schools through this amazing one-of-a-kind program. Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrator.
